One of the poorest countries in the world, landlocked Burkina Faso has few natural resources and a weak industrial base. About 90% of the population is engaged in subsistence agriculture, which is vulnerable to periodic drought. (cia world factbook)

Volunteer English teacher
Commitment: 1 month minimum
Description: Volunteers will teach English through everyday activities and interaction, planned activities like plays, theater. Volunteers will also get a chance to experience the culture and will therefore gain a lifelong experience and knowledge of the Burkinabe culture.
Skills: Native English speakers, college graduate.
Description: Help with administrative work at our office in Burkina-Faso.
Skills: Bilingual (French/English), good writing, editing, communication, project management, computer skills.
Participant will get course in permaculture design, traditional building, watershed restoration. Working with the local communities participants will get hands on experience. At the end participants will get the satisfaction of taking an active part in Burkina-Faso rural communities’ ongoing struggle to restore their environment.
Room and board with a host family unless chosen otherwise by participant. Volunteers go on cultural tours, get classes in cooking, shea butter harvesting etc. They will get a chance to experience the culture and will therefore gain a lifelong experience and knowledge of the Burkinabe culture.
Requirements:
- 2 weeks commitment minimum

- Be interested in social and economic equity
- Be at least 18 years old
